Lamar University names Jason Henderson athletic diretor

ApprovedJason Henderson graduated in 2003 from Texas A&M where he specialized in sports management and later went on to earn his masters from Texas A&M at Kingsville. After interning at Lindsey Wilson College and Texas A&M he was brought on as academic coordinator for Texas, where he was responsible for keeping records on student athletes and maintaining compliance documents. Shortly afterwards, he was offered a full time position at Lamar University. Henderson was hired on as a compliance coordinator at Lamar and became associate athletic director for compliance the following year as well as game manager for all home events for men’s athletics. When women’s basketball coach, Larry Tidwell, resigned in the middle of 2011, Henderson stepped in as interim athletic director.

Now one year later, not much has changed except that Jason Henderson now has a slightly shorter title. “Jason has been at the heart of so many of the significant accomplishments of Lamar athletics since joining LU in 2006,” Lamar President Jimmy Simmons said in a university-released statement. “He is an outstanding leader and, as interim athletics director, has helped move LU to the next level. I am looking forward to what he will help us accomplish in his new role as AD.”
