Buffaloes roam no more…

American Football on FieldIf you play football, otherwise you’re still a wanderer, but at least it’s a start. West Texas A&M shows off their new football crib and announces that it’s ready to go. Except for minor decor elements and other subtleties, the Buffs will be starting their first full season that doesn’t involve construction dust and hard hats. “Our first priority was to get football in a home,” said WT Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Michael McBroom. “They’ve been patient, and I think now they’re in a very nice locker room. It is really fantastic. It has been worthwhile.”

While the changing rooms are done, the rest of the future Bain Athletic Center is still just a twinkle of the imagination. The $4 million dollar project is still a long ways from raising the funds needed to complete the other pieces of the facility. Still missing are the weight room, athletic training room, coaches offices, meeting space and a “Championship Atrium” so show off all those pretty trophies. Not only will the building be shiny and new, but the facility will also house the latest in injury prevention and rehabilitation equipment including hydrotherapy tubs and get all new multimedia equipment with wi-fi access. The only hold up is the additional $2 million dollars in private funds needed to complete the project.

Amarillo Globe-News shot this video of what the facility currently looks like and got a look inside the locker rooms.
