University of Michigan dean of engineering gives us the 411

BandNo boring year end speech or recycle worth holiday greetings cards this year. Instead, David Munson, dean of engineering at the University of Michigan has decided to take a fresher approach. Munson goes Fresh Prince to highlight some of the initiatives underway in Ann Arbor with a piece called “Rap in Review”.

Here are some of the more interesting snippets of information that we can decipher from the lyrical works from the MC of M Cubed.

UM College of Engineering has taught 5,000 undergraduate students and more than 3,000 graduates in programs that include renewable energy, innovate construction materials, computer technology and electric propulsion.

The Hustler of Hydraulics also gave props to the UM Solar Car Race Team. The 23 year program that has produced 11 vehicles, 7 American Solar Challenge titles and 3 World Solar Challenge podium finishes. A new vehicle is produced every two years banking heavily on the knowledge learned from previous designs, advancements in technology and fresh minds.

Shouts outs go to:
– Mconnex, which is a new media platform to keep students informed with the latest news and events, share information and ideas and provide an additional avenue for learning.
– MCubed, a valuable resource that dramatically decreases the time needed to process funding for new initiatives.
